Geometric design of motions constrained by a contacting surface pair

چکیده
We discuss the following problem which arises in robot motion planning, NC machining and computer animation: Given are a fixed surface Ψ and N positions Φi of a moving surface Φ such that the Φi are in point contact with Ψ. Compute a smooth and fair Euclidean gliding motion Φ(t) of the surface Φ on the surface Ψ which interpolates (or approximates) the given positions Φi at time instances ti. First we generalize interpolatory variational subdivision algorithms for curves to curves on surfaces. Second we study an unconstraint motion design algorithm which we then extend to the main contribution of this paper, an algorithm for the design of a motion constraint by a contacting surface pair. Both motion design algorithms use a feature point representation of the moving surface, subdivision algorithms for curves, instantaneous kinematics, and ideas from line geometry. Geometric methods are used for the numerical solution of the arising optimization problems.

Constrained Multi-Objective Optimization Problems in Mechanical Engineering Design Using Bees Algorithm
Many real-world search and optimization problems involve inequality and/or equality constraints and are thus posed as constrained optimization problems. In trying to solve constrained optimization problems using classical optimization methods, this paper presents a Multi-Objective Bees Algorithm (MOBA) for solving the multi-objective optimal of mechanical engineering problems design. In the pre...
متن کاملAutomatic Generation of High-Level Contact State Space
A divide-and-merge approach is introduced for automatic generation of high-level, discrete contact state space, represented as contact state graphs, between two contacting polyhedral solids from their geometric models. Based on the fact that a contact state graph is the union of the subgraphs called a goal-contact relaxation (GCR) graph, the approach consists of algorithms (1) to generate a com...
متن کاملAutomatic Fairing of Two-parameter Rational B-spline Motion
This paper deals with the problem of automatic fairing of two-parameter B-Spline spherical and spatial motions. The concept of two-parameter freeform motions brings together the notion of the analytically determined two-parameter motions in Theoretical Kinematics and the concept of freeform surfaces in the field of Computer Aided Geometric Design (CAGD). A dual quaternion representation of spat...
متن کاملFree Natural Frequency Analysis of an FG Composite Rectangular Plate Coupled with Fluid using Rayleigh–Ritz Method
This study investigates natural frequency analysis of an FG composite rectangular plate partially contacting with a bounded fluid. The material properties are assumed to be varying continuously through the thickness direction according to a simple power law distribution in terms of volume fraction of material constituents. Wet dynamic transverse displacements of the plate are approximated by a ...
